With the NASCAR Cup Series over, after a weird, but hard fought season, Chase Elliot has been named the Cup Series Champion for the 2020 season.

The final race was not held at the normal track for the final race, held at Homestead-Miami Speedway since 2002, this year, that has changed, with the final race being held at Phoenix Raceway this year. The final four drivers in the playoffs were Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Brad Keslowski, and Chase Elliott. With Chase Elliott having an above average season, with 5 wins and 1 pole for the year, he came home with the victory. Chase Elliot and his father, Bill Elliott, who raced from 1976 to 1983, he was very skilled and had passed his skill down onto his son, Chase Elliott.

After the win at Phoenix, and after the celebration with the team and fans Chase Elliott was very thrilled and even didn’t believe it, Elliott said, “I’ll realize it tomorrow.” His team, owner and sponsors were all very pleased, Hendrick Motorsports won the Championship. Chase Elliott thanked his sponsors and team for the year, he also thanked his fans for the year he had. He really didn’t have much to say. Just disbelief about the situation, “It was a good race, close, and I’m glad Chase won” FHS student Blake Boyette said.

“ It was a weird feeling not having the final race at Homestead, but it was different, and I didn’t hate it, maybe it will happen again.” freshman, Blake Boyette said.
