Facebook outage

On October 4, 2021 millions of people across the world were in confusion as their favorite social media apps weren’t working. Facebook and its partner apps, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp were shut down for a period of 6 to 7 hours.

Just after 5pm Facebook released an announcement saying the issue had been fixed. The network claimed that the outage was due to a configuration change.

Facebook also released an announcement that its outage of the fourth was not related to it’s outage a few days before this incident, leaving the app down for more than five hours.

More than 3.5 billion people including business owners use Facebook or Instagram to sell their product and these days they said they were unable to sell products costing some thousands of dollars.

“We were supposed to be picking something up off of marketplace but my mom couldn’t get ahold of the lady on Messenger,” Alexandria T said

Globally in Brazil, Inda, Philippines, and many other countries many people rely on WhatsApp to communicate with not only customers but loved ones, friends, and family. But because of the outage they were unable to make contact with these people.

Twitter meanwhile joined in sending out a tweet saying “ Hello literally everyone,” as a joke towards the outage.

The company released a public apology along with saying they were working more to understand the cause.
