Should students have an open study hall? That probably sounds like a good idea for most of the students, But is it really going to be a good thing that helps students, or are they going to take advantage of this privilege?

There are a lot of students that would like to have an open study hall but there are also students who think that open study halls are an awful idea. Some think that because freshmen don’t have an open lunch already, why would they have an open study hall too?

“Students shouldn’t have open study halls because they are irresponsible and we are already having problems with open lunch,” freshman Anna Klink said.

Other people think that just upperclassmen should have open study halls because they are more mature and responsible. Which is true because a 14 year-old freshman would not have the same sense of responsibility and critical thinking skills as an 18 year-old senior.

“Upperclassmen yes, but not the underclassmen because they are too young,” senior Chase Wolke said.

There is also the fact that most of the students use study hall to do homework or study for a test or quiz. If students have open study halls they would use it to go and see their friends which sounds funnier than spending the time doing homework or studying.

“Probably not because I feel that during study hall you should be doing your homework,” senior Taylor Hudson said.

Another thing that we should think about is that students could use open study halls to do illegal things. Those things could be buying alcohol or drugs and hiding them in the school, for those reasons freshmen do not have open lunch.

“No, because I think that is a bad idea and people would take advantage of it,” sophomore Jake Best said.

Should students have an open study hall? The answer to that question depends on everyone, maybe for some people that is a great idea or maybe they think it is an awful idea. Most people say that students should not have an open study hall. They might be right because even if the idea sounds good, maybe it would not be good at all.

¿Deberíamos tener open study hall? Eso suena como una buena idea para la mayoría de estudiantes, ¿Pero es esto algo bueno que ayudará a los estudiantes, o acaso ellos van a tomar ventajas de este privilegio?

Hay estudiantes que les gustaría tener un open study hall pero también hay estudiantes que piensan que tener un open study hall es una terrible idea. Muchos piensan esto porque los freshmen de por sí no tienen open lunch, ¿Porque tendrían un open study hall también?

“Los estudiantes no deberían tener open study halls porque son irresponsables y ya estamos teniendo problemas con el open lunch” dijo la freshmen Anna Klink.

Otras personas piensan que solo los estudiantes de último año deberían tener open study halls porque son más maduros y responsables. Lo cual es verdad porque un freshmen de 14 años no va tener el mismo sentido de responsabilidad y pensamiento crítico que un senior de 18 años.

“Los de último año sí, pero no los de primer año porque aún son muy jóvenes” dijo la senior Chase Wolke.

También está el hecho de que la mayoría de estudiantes usan study hall para hacer tarea o estudiar para un examen o quiz. Si los estudiantes tienen open study hall, ellos van a ir a ver sus amigos, lo cual suena mucho más divertido que pasar el tiempo haciendo tarea o estudiando.

“Probablemente no porque yo siento que durante study hall deberías estar haciendo tu tarea” dijo la senior Taylor Hudson.

Otra cosa que deberíamos tener en cuenta es que los estudiantes podrían utilizar el open study hall para hacer cosas ilegales. Esas cosas podrían ser comprar alcohol o drogas y esconderlas en la escuela, por esas
razones es que los freshmen no tienen open lunch.

“No porque yo pienso que es una mala idea y que la gente va tomar ventajas de ello” dijo el sophomore Jake Best.

¿Los estudiantes deberían tener open study hall? La respuesta a esa pregunta depende de cada quien, tal vez para algunas personas es una brillante idea o tal vez ellas piensen que la idea es terrible. La mayoría de las personas dirían que los estudiantes no deberían tener open study hall. Ellos podrían estar en lo correcto porque incluso si la idea suena bien, puede que sea más un daño que un beneficio.
