Summer is right around the corner and with the season comes a lot of fun things to do in an effort to alleviate boredom and enjoy the gap before school starts back up in fall. Usually fun costs a little bit of money but here are five fun things that do not cost much if any money.
The first way of taking advantage of the season is simply by taking a walk or rather a hike in the nice crisp weather. There are a couple of great locations to hike like hocking hills and it’s always a good idea to take pets, especially dogs and enjoy the great outdoors. Hiking also has many health benefits as it is of course walking for long periods of time and can help improve heart health and improve respiratory problems.
“I think everyone enjoys swimming and it is really something people need to do before the summer ends,” junior Jesse Weekly said.
Swimming is also a great way to enjoy the summer weather that itself does not actually cost money unless one pays to get into the public or even private pools. A free swimming option could be ponds and lakes. Going to the beach is also a great option for those who enjoy more open bodies of water. Swimming also has amazing health benefits for those trying to get in shape or build their endurance.
“I enjoy hanging out with my friends without actually doing anything. It’s a nice way to pass the time,” junior Jesse Weekly continued.
Hanging out with friends is an easy way to pass and spend quality time with loved ones. Simple activities like playing games, going outside, and simply sitting and chatting is an easy way to not spend any money.
Drawing on the sidewalk with some chalk is a surprisingly fun thing to do even for highschoolers and the only thing it costs is a piece of chalk. It’s especially fun in groups on a nice warm day with several different colors of chalk. It’s one of the more artistic things on this list.
