Trends are constantly changing, and some trends even have a comeback. This year, 2016 trends have come back. Certain music, clothes, and filters are all regaining their lost attention.
The most popular trend right now is 2016 music. Especially songs by artist G-Eazy, like ‘Tumblr Girls,’ ‘Lady Killers,’ and ‘Lady Killers II.’ A video went viral on TikTok when a girl on a beach made a video to ‘Lady Killers II’ and her ring light began to flash. Now there are thousands of videos either replicating thay video or just using the audio.
“I really enjoy G-Eazy’s songs, especially Tumblr Girls and Lady Killers. I think their comeback is great because his music gives a good nostalgic feel and really sets the mood for summer,” sophomore Bella Woltz said.
Even more songs that are coming back are songs like ‘Habits’ by Tove Lo, ‘Latch’ by Disclosure and Sam Smith, ‘Hide Away’ by Daya ,and many songs by artists such as PARTYNEXTDOOR, A$AP Rocky, and The Weeknd.
A forgotten viral trend is definitely the making of slime. In 2016, the craze was over slime. People would mix glue, shaving cream, and contact solution or borax to create different slime. It got to the point where some parents even banned it in their homes. But once again, people have begun to make slime and post videos about it.
“I like making slime, but I especially loved it when I was younger. I used to make a lot of types of slime. I like how you could create many different kinds of slime and it allowed me to be very creative. I like seeing it making a comeback because it was a very enjoyable activity to do back in 2016,” sophomore Jalyn Dawson said.
Another thing that has gone extremely viral again is the filters. In 2016 there were a few very distinct filters such as Rio De Janeiro on Instagram, the dog filter on Snapchat, as well as the usage of a digital camera to give that fun summery effect to your photos. As 2016 is making a comeback, so is the love of these trending filters.
“I really like these filters because they look cool and I feel like there were better vibes back then,” freshman Scarlett Smith said.
There was also a very distinct makeup style in 2016. Thick eyebrows, colorful eyeshadow, and a matte base was the most popular technique. Celebrities like Kylie Jenner and influencers like James Charles were the people that showed this makeup style the most.
“In my opinion I don’t think 2016 makeup should come back. I like the clean, no makeup, look a lot better. James Charles also fell off,” sophomore Annabelle Barger said.
