Should Pep Rallies Return?

Ever since COVID, FHS has not had a pep rally. The last time there was a pep rally was the 2019-2020 school year.
In a recent poll, 78% of students want pep rallies again. 12% of students said they do not want pep rallies again and 10% of students said that they were on the fence about pep rallies coming back.
“I think that we should have pep rallies again because when we used to have them we always looked forward to them.” freshmen Addisyn Harris stated.
She also blames COVID for not having pep rallies.
“Ever since COVID, school has not been the same and there’s nothing to look forward to and that’s why I think kids now have no motivation. We need to start doing our normal stuff we did when it was normal.” freshmen Addisyn Harris also stated.
Some students think pep rallies are good for school spirit.
“They are good for school spirit and for representation of the student body but, it may not be COVID friendly and the format of Pep Rallies in the past were rather chaotic.” sophomore Jillian Doll stated.
Another student thinks that there should also be pep rallies again.
“I think we should have pep rallies because it really gets the sports team students riled up and I feel like it encourages the teams to play their hardest.” sophomore Alexis Burrows says.
On the other hand, other students think that we should not have pep rallies again.
“I don’t think we should have pep rallies because it ends up becoming a time waster when teachers could be using that time for class.” sophomore Caleb Hanson stated.
