Spring of Superheroes

Superheroes will spring into theaters this season! Major movies from Marvel and DC will be released such as Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, Fox’s X-Men Apocalypse and Warner Brother’s Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as several T.V. shows. Later this year, Marvel’s Doctor Strange and Warner Brother’s Suicide Squad will also be released.

The first superhero movie to debut this year was Deadpool which got exceptional  reviews and set a new bar for superhero movies. The second hero to appear was Daredevil, whose series is out on Netflix. In the second season of Daredevil, characters such as Punisher and Elektra were introduced and is even more exciting than the first season. Agent Carter finished its second season and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is resuming its second half of season 3. The first  major superhero movie to come out this Spring was Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is the first time that Batman and Superman have faced off in a live action movie. Joining the two heroes on the big screen was Wonder Woman.

The second superhero movie to be released this year will be Captain America: Civil War. This movie will have Iron Man and Captain America face off over whether or not superheroes and other powered beings should register with the Government and take orders from them. Captain America is on the anti-registration side and Iron Man wants heroes to register to prevent more damage to the world. Siding with Captain America are Falcon, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man and the Winter Soldier. Siding with Iron Man are The Vision, Black Widow, War Machine, and two new superheroes are being introduced Black Panther and after a huge deal with Sony Spider-Man is joining the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), both are on team Iron Man. The recent reveal of Spider-Man has fans hopeful that the third time’s the charm and new Spider-Man actor Tom Holland nails the part. The film has actual villains as well; Crossbones and Baron Zemo. So who’s team are you on? Team Cap or Team Iron Man?

The final movie coming out this Spring is X-Men: Apocalypse. This movie takes place ten years after X-Men Days of Future Past, after altering the past to save mutants in the future it allowed the mutant Apocalypse to appear. The movie will introduce younger versions of well known characters such as Storm, Jean, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Angel. The movie also introduces the mutants Psylocke and Jubilee. The mutant Apocalypse was born in ancient Egypt and is the first and most powerful mutant born and is practically immortal, he believes in a twisted form of Darwinism where only the strongest human and mutants live. Just like in the Bible he has four horsemen, in the movie they are Magneto, Storm, Psylocke, and Angel. It is not known if Wolverine will appear. Other characters appearing are Professor X, Mystique, Beast and Havok and Quicksilver.

Movies being released later this year will be DC’s Suicide Squad where a group of criminals fight for good to reduce their sentences. Marvel’s Doctor Strange will be released in November and will feature Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange a Neurosurgeon who gets into a car crash and loses the ability to use his hands He goes on a journey to the far east where he learns to become the Sorcerer Supreme. This film will introduce the magical side of the Marvel Universe.The next Marvel Netflix series Luke Cage will come out in September and will continue to tell the story of the man with unbreakable skin as well as introduce the newly casted, Finn Jones, as Danny Rand; The Iron Fist. The hit ABC T.V. show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D was renewed for its fourth season and will start in the fall.
