Supernatural keeps true to fans over the years

Title: Supernatural

Starring: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard and Curtis Armstrong

Plot: The first episode starts with a demon being interrogated, it said ‘a Winchester is now one of us” to Sam (Jared Padalecki). With the 200th anniversary musical episode, the boys had to fight a goddess, and after that it was an hour-long love letter to the fans. But  there’s a psycho military guy named Cole. He claims to be a Hunter and also that he knew Dean (Jensen Ackles) a long time ago and they didn’t get along.

Why watch it: The show has been awesome for years, and it’s getting even better than before. I’m going to hold off further judgment until more information shows up.

Classics puts new spin on classic songs

she and him classicsAlbum: Classics

Artist: She & Him

Sound: Indie rock/ folk

Why buy it: She & Him’s Classics is an arrangement of classic songs covered by artists Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward. Although none of the material is original, the duo puts their own original spin on every song, making it something unique and different from the original. The songs’ original artists span from Frank Sinatra (Time After Time), to Carole King (Oh No, Not My Baby). Deschanel’s voice is a perfect match for the retro-themed album. The electric guitar added by M. Ward in songs like Stay Awhile adds an unusual element to the otherwise simple songs, giving them a fuller, distinctive sound. A few of the songs, however, seem to get lost in the middle—in areas where the duo has tried to alter the song to fit their individual style. But, overall, the album is a bright new take on songs by our favorite artists from yesteryear.

NHS expands and honors community service

National Honors Society (NHS) is recognizing the achievements of its current membership and welcoming many new members this December.

“New member inductions will take place in the Findlay High School Heminger Auditorium on December 12th at 10 a.m.,” NHS President Lindsay George said.

“NHS exists here to honor those students who not only achieve academically, but also those who perform service, leadership and who possess positive character traits.  As students plan for college application it is a great thing to put on your resume!” NHS advisor and art teacher Nancy Frankenfield said.

National Honors Society applicants must complete 50 volunteer hours, along with meeting many other criteria. Once inducted, members must complete at least 15 volunteer hours each semester to demonstrate a commitment to service.

“Applicants are chosen by the Faculty council which consists of five teachers selected by Mrs. Swartz to serve on this committee.  Faculty members review the applications to judge whether or not the applicants have met and fulfilled all requirements,” Frankenfield said.

The new members will almost double the number of students in the Blue and Gold Chapter of NHS and will encourage more community service.
“The induction ceremony will recognize all new and current members for the excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, and character,” George said.
